Recent Trip to Sun Exposure

Just had Spring Break, can't remember the last time I was this excited to go home. Good food, great weather, just driving under the bright sun with the moonroof open, it was the perfect storm for a relaxing vacation. Packed up my bags with my buddy Jimmy and we made our way down to LA.

We did a roadtrip down from the Bay Area to LA. First stop was at San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach.
The beautiful scenery and farm lands of California. Interlaced with wineries and rolling hills with mountains the backdrop - why did I ever leave this place?
Stopped by Firestone's in Cal Poly to have some Tri-Tip BBQ Sandwiches with some old high school friends that I haven't seen in a hot minute. I miss these folks, and I hope I can see them more often than not in the future. Home is always home, no matter how long or how far you go.
Next stop, Pismo Beach to go do some beaching and hanging out. Jimmy went out to ride some of the waves.

Not a bad deal if you ask me.
Crashed at my friend Queena's place for the night. Thank you thank you thank you for your hospitality.

Ate In n Out three times that week.... so bad.

EpicHello Laguna Beach.
Nice - driving along the California Coast line. The theme of this roadtrip.
Nice little lookout point we faced as we ate our burritos.
Friends
Crashed a night at my buddy Derik's. Good to see the brova again.
And the theme of SoCal, why it sucks. Traffic, traffic, traffic. Took me 4 hours to get out of there. The same distance in norcal I covered in 2 hrs 20.

Overall, nearly 1k miles of driving consisting of 16 hours. Phew, tired, but well worth it.

Brunch with Slo

On a fresh and sunny Saturday where temperatures have hit 50 degrees for the first time since the fall, I have to break my entire routine and enjoy the weather. Had a great time enjoying brunch at Five Points with Steph Lo aka Slo aka Bro. You can check out her blog for more about the food (which was awesome, get the Fennel-Pork sausage and Poached eggs) and especially grab yourself a Bloody Mary (which packs a punch - exactly how I like mine).

Eggs perfectly poached, just a bit runny and a bit undercooked to have that perfect ooey-ness (yes thats a word). Sausage was unbelievable, tomato sauce on the bottom perfect compliment to the dryness of the meet and eggs, and my god when you put all those components together you get a tasty treat.

Fantastic day today, and went it looks like it does below then you know you gotta spend some time outside and enjoy the sun.
Hope you guys are staying warm wherever you are, and if you're in New York, go grab yourself a weekend brunch. It can never go wrong - even if you were hoping to get fried chicken at Five Points but they don't serve it on Saturdays.

Cheers,
K
